Cold Case & Heinous Crime Initiative

March 12, 2018

About six weeks ago at a Clarksville Police media event concerning crimes in our community and the valuable support of Crime Stoppers, we announced the start of a new local crime-fighting program called the “Cold Case & Heinous Crime Initiative”.

Many know about two years ago Crime Stoppers, in coordination with law enforcement, started an effort to help with cold cases through media and reward offers. These cold cases involve older murders where the lack of additional clues is hindering the process of arresting the people responsible. It is well documented that tips received by the Crime Stopper program and the rewards offered for those tips have proven to be a successful combination. It is the national policy of the Crime Stopper program to limit any tip reward to $1000 from within our budgetary procedures. However, there are no such restrictions on rewards combined with community pledges. This is where we need the help of businesses and organizations within our community. We are asking area businesses and organizations to join with Crime Stoppers and make a TIPS pledge of $500 or more that can be combined with other pledges to make rewards in amounts of $5000 or possibly $10,000 for tips that lead to arrests on cold cases or heinous crimes. It is hoped that these larger tip rewards will bring results. This new program targets only cold case and heinous crimes as identified by law enforcement. A “heinous crime” is being defined as where the community is in extreme danger as long as the perpetrator is on the street (such as a mass murderer). Currently, there are several cold cases that we need to help law enforcement with.

We have started contacting area businesses and organizations asking for their support. We do not ask for the money up front, but to sign a written agreement to provide their $500 or more, when notified, that a tip(s) has provided information for an arrest of a cold case suspect. For specific details on what is involved and how you can help please contact/email Crime Stoppers at:

Clarksvillecrimestoppers@gmail.com

We need your help to in order to help law enforcement bring these criminals to justice and bring closure to the families affected by these crimes. Please contact us and join in on this new effort to stop crime.

Thank you,

Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that inhibit community involvement: fear and apathy.

Crime Stoppers provides a phone number, web tips, and mobile tips to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies to fight against crime.

Callers can and will remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.

Crime Stoppers relies on volunteer Board of Directors and tax deductible contributions from the public in order to operate the administration of the program.

Please check out our Missing Persons tab and our Cold Case/ Unsolved Murders tab on this web site. We need your information on these cases. Someone knows something, and we will pay for that information if it leads to an arrest !!!
